Watertown’s Best Western Hotel played host to the first Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast this morning, with over 50 of the county’s top elected officials, service men and women, and clergy gathered to prayer over Jefferson County.

Mayor Jeff Graham shared on his heart to see the needs met of those who are most disadvantaged in the city of Watertown, and requested prayers for continued wisdom on how to best serve the citizens of the region. Some of the leading Pastors of the area stood to pray blessings over the Police and Fire Chiefs as well as for the growth of Watertown’s economic and business community.

Additionally, two leading Pastor’s from the Albany area made the long journey north to share how God and the power of prayer are availing amazing results in the capital region of our state. From dramatic drops in crime and murder rates to the sky rocketing increase of the city’s bond value, they explained how over 22 municipal prayer groups meet weekly to pray over their region’s elected officials, school systems, and businesses with astounding results.

With such a dramatic response from Jefferson County’s clergy, and seeing the need for shaping the ethical and moral standards of the community, the Mayor plans on holding the event annually.
